The Campaign for Boalt Hall

The UC Berkeley School of Law will raise $125 million in its Campaign for Boalt Hall to deliver the education, scholarship, and inclusiveness required of a premier law school.

The Campaign for Boalt Hall increases access by doubling the size of need-based grants for students from disadvantaged backgrounds and bolstering the school’s loan forgiveness program for students pursuing public-sector jobs; recruiting and retaining top faculty; advancing research and the work of the school’s centers, institutes, and think tanks; and building or renovating spaces to house and reflect the excellence of Berkeley’s scholarship.

The ambitious Campaign for Boalt Hall sets a goal that is nine times the amount raised in Berkeley Law’s previous campaign. The school has already raised $67 million toward the Campaign — surpassing the halfway mark in just four years. The generosity of alumni and friends fuels the vision of Berkeley Law to serve students and benefit society.

Gifts to the Boalt Hall Fund give the dean maximum flexibility to advance the following priorities:

  • Access and Inclusion: $15 million to expand financial aid and loan forgiveness.
  • Scholars and Teachers: $15 million to expand the core faculty by 40 percent and provide incentives to continue to attract the nation&rsqou;s world-class scholars.
  • Expertise and Engagement: $15 million to support results-oriented research in Berkeley Law’s centers, institutes, and think tanks.
  • Renovation and Construction: $60 million to transform existing facilities and construct a new, state-of-the-art building to meet current needs.
