The Campaign for the School of Information

Recruiting and retaining top faculty

The School of Information is exceptionally proud of its internationally renowned faculty. Recognizing the importance of both scholarly research and practical application, the I School has recruited multidisciplinary scholars and practitioners with backgrounds in computer science, economics, engineering, law, public policy, and the social sciences.

Gifts directed towards faculty support allow the I School to recruit and retain faculty esteemed for their pioneering vision. Endowing a faculty chair at the I School would be a significant contribution not only to Berkeley, but to the entire information field. A generous $110-million gift from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation matches endowment-level gifts dollar-for-dollar to create 100 new faculty chairs at UC Berkeley — leveraging endowed gifts in schools and colleges across the campus and doubling the impact for generations to come.
