Our contemporary world is driven by multicultural issues as never before. For over a century, the Phoebe A. Hearst Museum of Anthropology has sought to collect and interpret the global record of material culture to better understand our human history. Studying and engaging in public dialogue about the cultural lessons of our past enables us to think critically about our present condition and plan for the future. Because the Museum is affiliated with a major research university, its works are studied and supported by faculty and researchers worldwide and is open to the general public through exhibitions, programs, and tours.
