A rich visual arts resource
The arts play a vital role in any educational community, particularly one with UC Berkeley’s international distinction. Widely considered to be one of the best university art museums and film archives in the country, BAM/PFA boasts a diverse and thought-provoking exhibition schedule. When a 1997 campus analysis found that the existing BAM/PFA building did not meet current seismic standards, the opportunity arose to build a new visual arts center in downtown Berkeley.
